The Ellesmere Rugby Sub-Union invites tenders for the catering rights at the seven-aside tournament to be held at Southbridge on July _1.

The last of the Sedgemere-Lakeside Miniature Rifle' Club's euchre tournaments and dances will be held next Thursday evening.

A novel function for Southbridge, a "bring and buy evening,'" will be held in the Presbyterian Hall to-night. l There will be produce of all kinds for salo and a musical programme will be presented. The joint secretaries report that the tickets have met with an exceptionally good sale and that there is every prospect of a large attendance. Bettel's Jazz Band has been engaged. A euchre tournament will take place in the ante-room during the early part of the evening. In conversation with a representative of the Guardian, Mr D. Jones, M.P., said that he was very hopeful of beingable to secure the services of a schools dental officer for this district in the near future. As a result of representations made to him by the Southbridge School Committee he has interviewed the Minister of Hcaith and hopes to be able to make a definite announcement soon. Mr Jones contends that the services of a dental officer are more needed in the country districts than in the towns, where the facilities are already good. When travelling between Springston and Lincoln on Saturday, one of the back wheels came off a small car driven by Miss Chapman, of Southbridge. Fortunately the car was travelling at a moderate speed and no damage of any consequence was done. Tennis enthusiasts throughout the Ellesmere Sub-Association's district, and many other folk, arc looking forward with much pleasure to the SubAssociation's annual dance to be held in the Leeston Town Hall next Thursday. The opportunity will be taken to present the trophies won during the season. It is expected that there will be a large attendance.
