LITTLE RAKAIA

VALUABLE PIG SHOT.

Recently Mr J. P. McEvedy, of " Dromoreland," Southbridge, who is well known in Canterbury as a breeder of Tamworth pigs, found his chanv pion imported boar Winburndale Max, lying dead in the small paddock where it was kept. Investigation showed that the animal had been destroyed by a shotgun. He was a particularly fine type of pig, and was considered by experts to be one of the best Tamworths yet imported into Canterbury. He was a son of Blakeney Sidney from Winburndale Sadie, and was bred by Mr F. Elbern, of New South Wales. Before leaving Australia he won a championship at the Sydney Show and has since won championships at the Royal Show in Christchurch and at Ellesmere Show. Mr McEvedy has decided to prosecute any persons found trespassing on his property in future.
