RAILWAYMAN'S GREAT RECORD.
; Fifty-two years' work ow the London and North Eastern Eailway has brought to Mr George Harding, of Ongar, Essex, many experiences and one great regret, which, it seems, he never will , forget. He has just completed- his 45 years as a loco, man—4s years all but a day, and that because of a crippled knee caused by .an injury some time back. That day missed is the cause of his regret. Mr Harding is 65 years of age, and although once;a member of a trade union, has never been on strike. '•'Gardening and poultry will keep me busy,, he said, "when this leg gets better, but why it could not have kept right till I had finished my last day I don't know.''
