LEESTON STOCK SALE
There was a. numerous entry of sheep at the fortnightly stock sale at Lees to n yesterday, besides 50 fat pigs, 200 store pigs and 36 head of cattle. The attendance was not up to the average, as many farmers are still busy with harvest, work. Sheep, both fat and stores, were easier than on the previous sale day, bu the values were a shade better than those ruling at the metropolitan market on Wednesday. Fat pigs showed a fairly sharp decline, and an over supply of store pigs, together with a much weaker demand, brought prices down a few shillings per head. The store pig market became fairly "sticky" towards the close. Some good quality steers sole! fairly well, but the demand for othei c-attle was very weak" and sales were difficult to make at any price. The range of values was as follows:—
Fat lambs 15/9 to 22/4, fat ewes !)/- to 13/1, fat wethers 13/3 to 19/2, forward ewes 7/3, bacon pigs 64/6 to 79/-, choppers from 60/-, porkers 50/ to 62/6, large stores 30/- to 49/, medium from 13/6, weaners from 9/-, sow and litter (white) £5 2s 6d, forward steers (good sorts) £6 2s Gd, 4 heifers 15 to ISmonths old, £3 15s, two heifers £4 10s to £5 7s Gd, yearlings 34/-
