CORPORAL W. HESLOP. Mr, J«hn Hcslop, of InveH, . received wjrd on Moudiy that his eldest son, Corporal Wi liam Heslop, had been killed in action, in France, on July 15th, Corporal Healop, who left for the front with the 7th reinforcements, was perhaps best known in this district as a foot* ballet1. He played 5 Bth for the Irwell Club for two or three season? and, even when only 18, showed re maikable promise. He was a steady, industuous lad, and, being the eldest of the family, was naturally a great help to bis father. Our readers wilt, we feel sure, join us in extending deep sympathy to Mr and Mrs Heslop and family, and exp-es-sing ths hope that they will b&sgustained by the knowledge that Corporal Hcslop has given his life for his home and country, gallantly fighting to defend the righteous ideals of liberty, and that he will reap the reward that such aeion amply merits, A younger brother of Corpora) Hesiop waa farewelled
