And tthe “Grand Mufti.’' (Contributor) We. have heard much of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem during Britain’s attempts at a settlement of the trouble between Jew and Arab. Many believe him to he a Jew, instead of which he is perhaps the most bitter enemy of the Jews. Behind some of the antagonism displayed by the Jews to Britain is that country's leniency towards that arch enemy of both Britain and Jewery leader of Arab opposition. British statesmen would do well to reconsider this dangerous enemy and his fanatical following. These facta from a Swiss journal are not generally appreciated:— *'He began broadcasting from Berlin, telling lib fellow Mahommedans “Germany is your friend and protector... Kill the Jews wherever you may find them, for this act is pleasing to God & will be honoured by History and Religion.” Captured German documents and evidence given by prominent Nazis prove that the worst surmises and suspicions held about the Mufti were true. A leading S.S. man denounced him at the Nuremberg trial as the chief intellectual instigator of the mass extermination of European Jewery. Bethought this the best solution of the Palestine problem. Referring to the connections between the Mufti and Eichmann, the man responsible for setting up the gas chamber extermination camps at Auschivitz,. he said “ The Mufti was one of Eicbraann’s closest friends and continually urged him to expedite his methods of extermination." How can Britain expect highly intelligent people like the Jews, who have suffered so outrageously at the instigation of this man. to respect or to tolerate Britain’s attitude towards him and them yespectivety to djy f
