OMAKAU-OPHIR NOTES

Women’s Institute -- The montnly meeting of the Omakau-Ophir Women’s Insti tute was held at Mrs Jones’ residence, Mrs Ingram presiding. The motto was “A well spent day brings a happy to morrow.” Roll Call ; Magazines for Hospital. The competition ‘Something useful made from f-craps,” resulted—Mrs J. Bell 1 Mrs Ingram 2nd and 3rd A social period was spent, when an amusing competition was won by Mrs Ingram Hostesses were Mesdames J* Jones and G. Bell.
Matches Off---An unpleasant visitation hail and rain on Saturday afternoon caused the postponement of all tennis and cricket matches. The Alexandra team of cricketers had arrived here and were about to commence their match with Omakau, when the storm broke and in a few minutes the field was white with hail. People are asking when are we going to get any summer ?
Bowling .. Omakau bowlers played at Cromwell on Saturday. The scores were not available this morning, but T understand the team was only successful in one rink.
Obituary I regret to report the death of Mr James Corrigall, a well known farmer of this district. The eldest son of Mrs Jean Corrigall, he was 62 years of age, and leaves a wife and a famifly of two sons and a daughter (Mrs Webster, of Moa Creek) to mourn their loss. The funeral, which was largely attended look place at Omakau yesterday.
