GOLF

The official opening of the Dunstan Golf Club takes place, at Clyde, on Saturday, May 18 , when an invitation to attend is extended to visiting players and members of neighbouring clubs. A ladies' Flag match was played on the local links on Saturday when Miss Bell was the winner carrying the Flag to the 18th green with a good score of 102. A mens bogey match was contested and won by B. G. MacAvoy. The annnal meeting of the Dunstan Golf Club was held on Tuesday evening when Mr T R. Robertson was in the chair. There were present Mesdarnes W. K. George, E. W. George, Scouler; Misses E. Annan, A. Stevens; Messrs VI. Warhurst, W. K George, E. W. George, M. O’Donnell, VV. A. Harlow and B. MacAvoy. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Balance-sheet and report for the previous year were read by the secretary and after the president, and Mr Harlow had addressed the meeting and congratulated the Club on a most successful year these were adopted. Robertson and President and Secretary, Ladies Handicap and Match Com - Miss 8011, Mrs W. K. George and Mrs McArthur Snr, Ladies Social Committee—Misses E. Annan, A. Stevens, Mesdarnes G Hanning and M, O’Donnell. Delegates to O. G. U. —Messrs M. Warhurst and E. W. George After_sorne discussion it was decided that the subscription for the forthcoming year should be: Men £l-1, and Ladies 12/6 d. It was moved and seconded that the ladies of the Club join the Ladies Golf Union, ,Mrs to act as Secretary. Opeufig Day was fixed for Saturday, May 18th. It was dco'de(f that a two-day Tournament be held on the Ist and 3rd June, the Secretary to write and request the Otago Central Golf Union that the Otago Central Championships, should be held on the Dunstan Links, at Clyde. The Secretary was instructed to write to the New Zealand Golf Union t> apply for the official standard scratch score of the links. Mr E. W. George offered to prepare a plan. It was decided to hold a Ball at the end of the season. Mr W. K George proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the retiring President and Secretary and a vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
