MANIOTOTO COUNTY COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the Council | was held at Naseby, on Wednesday, ! March Ist, when there were present (Jis I Hon. 11. Scott (Chairman), W. Howell, H. W. Davis, E Morgan, N Nicolson, jT. A. Lewis, W. •M. Mathewson, P. Ailken and T Hall. Moved by Cr Hall and seconded by Cr Aitken that the Minutes of the meeting held on 23rd January be confirmed.—Carried. The Chairman tabled a letter received from Mr D. Inder in connection with statements made by the' Banger at a previous meeting in connection with the impounding of a bull, the property lof MrJ. McMillan. Moved by Cr [ Aitken and seconded by Cr Howell jtnatthe Council hear Mr Inder and I Mr Graham at 2 30 p.m. on the day of the next Council meeting.—Carried. The Hanger reported that tor the month of February 4 horses were impounded and 4 head of cattle were released before reaching the Pound. Fees collected were Pound £2 2 and Ranging 3s, making a total of £2 5 Received. —Correspondence — The Department of Agriculture, Wellington forwarded the Slaughterhouse License which had been transferred from G. W. Provan to Thus. Robinson. Moved and seconded that the transfer be approved and the License issued. The Dunedin City Council forwarded Apportionment of Heavy Tiaffic Fees for the period ended 30th November. 1932, which showed that Mamototo | County’s portion was £lO3 16 4. The Acting District Engineer, N. /. \ Railways, Dunedin, wrote further in regard to the Council leasing the Old I Pipe Line Reserve at Raufurly. Hie ji. lerk was directed to reply that (lie Maniototo County Council fully appreciated the Department’s position in connection with the Reserve in question and "requests that the Department quote a definite price for the disposal of the whole of the Reserve and alternately stipulates the amount of Rental required for a Lease of the Reserve. Accounts amounting to £1783 15 1 were passed for payments Engineer’s Report —I Moved and seconded, that miles iff the Main Highway be dressed with line gravel at the rate of two cubic yams per chain at an estimated cost of /£36 and the work be done by the County plant. Cr Aitken moved and /Cr Mathewson seconded that two culverts be placed near C Hore’s and O’Malleys at an estimated cost of £25The Engineer to be instructed to have the Raufurly-Waipiata back road graded at the first opportunity. The Engineer to be directed to have a pipe culvert lengthened and gorse removed from the roadside. Cr Lewis on behalf of the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee applied for the services of the Engineer, to make some computations for the Committee. — Granted Cr Lewis stated that at the last meeting of the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee members were requested solicit gifts of Rooks and reading matter generally, for the use and enjoyment of patients at the Sanatorium. Cr Lewis stated that if parcels jf Rooks, Papers etc., were left anywhere in Ranfurly or some other centre he would take responsibil ty for the ir delivery at the Sanatorium On the motion of Cr Lewis it was decided to cancel the unexpended portion of Reefs Road Grant amounting-to £5 I / . It was decided on the motion of Cr Mathewson to offer the small secondhand grader to Mr J. H. Reid at the price of £3 15. Cr Howell brought up the question of an application by Mrs H, vV eir, Waipiata, for the permission to erect a sign on the roadside near the Sanatorium. The Waipiata Sanatorium Committee had advised Mrs Weir that they had no jurisdiction over the application if the sign was erected on the roadside. Cr Howell moved and Cr Mathewson seconded that Mrs H. Weir be given permission to erect the sign on the roadside close to the boundary Fence on the Waipiata-Sanatorium Road near the Sanatorium provided .that the notice Hoard when erected meets with the approval of the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee or its appointee. —Carried. Cr Scot c moved in accordance with Notice of motion given at the meeting of the Council held on 2nd November, 1932, that whereas part of the Naseby - Waipiata road through Block 1, Naseby S. D. from Section 3, Block XVIII Maniototo S. D. a distance of approximately two miles and used as a Public road or thoroughfare for the past fifty years more or less and on which for I the better use of the public the Maniototo County Council has from time to j time during that period formed and maintained tlie above mentioned road and whereas that part or portion of I road referred to is not clearly defined as a road it is now deemed expedient that the Council take such action "as is | necessary to have the above mentioned portion of road legally delienated as distinguished from the Tlogburn Channel Reserve of which it apparently is at present a part.
