“I do not suggest that fiction should be eliminated from the shelves of the public libraries, hut at least 25 per cent, of the hooks should be educational works,” said Mr IT. E. Holland, Leader of the Opposition, at the Auckland Town Hall. He had been surprised to find that at the last census there was one library in New Zealand which had not a single educational volume on its shelves.
