THE PRINCE'S PLANS.

SIX WEEK’S SUMMER REST IN CANADA

The Prince of Wales, the “Daily Chronicle” understands is this year to spend bis summer vacation in Canada. It has already been announced that the Prince will take part in the formal opening of the international Peace Bridge linking Port Erie and Buffalo, and commemorating more than 100 years of peace between Canada and the United States. After the celebration which takes place on duly 1. the prince is to visit his ranch with the intention of enjoying to the full a complete and unfettered rest. He expects to be in the Dominion from six to eight weeks, spending most of his time on his ranch at High River, Alberta, where he will find a number of alterations and improvements earned out in his absence under the supervision of Professor W. L. Carlyle, his ranch manager. Nothing essential is being done without the Prince’s knowledge, all the plans relating to now buildings having been submitted to him. When returning the plans and generally approving them the Prince made proposals embodying his own ideas, which are now being carried out. These new plans, amplified as they are by the ideas of the Prince, are wide in scope, and include more buildings and extra stabling. Nothing elaborate or very costly is being undertaken; on the contrary, following the Prince’s instructions, everything' is to bo of the simplest character and the Liildings constructed of the plainest possible material compatible with efficiency.

This ' intended development is being held up for tbs time being owing to the existing embargo on the removal of live slock from Great Britain to Canada. The Prince has decided, immediately this embargo is removed, to send out blood stock horses, possibly including some hunters and polo ponies. Most of the horses now at High River are Clydesdales. It would appear that the Prince intends, at the earliest possible opportunity, to try his luck with light horses.
