The immense statue is 72 feet high and 52 feet in girth, in its forehead, where the ordinary Buddha has a jewel, there heing set a 10,000-candle power electric light, shining out over the harbor, this Buddha, the largest in existence, is the gift of Mr' Saikiehi Yamada. who'as :m otlieial of Nagoyti, had much to do with modernising the port.
