FAIR, BUT DULL.
EM DEN FILM . The film depicting the sinking of the Emden on Cocos Island is very fair, says the Daily News. Indeed,, it is accused in Germany of being 100 British.
One point, indicating that it is produced under the German Admiralty’s aegis, is the presentation of the British sailors and passengers aboard the ships which were sunk by the raiding warship as being terrified of their lives, while the Germans are always veritable heroes. Much of the film is dull, as the sinking of unarmed vessels cannot ho represented heroically* Also, the film tries to make the spectator believe that Captain von Muller did not surrender, which at first was correct, hut white flags were shown when H.M.A.S. Sydney rc-open-ed fire on the stranded Emden.
