ST. BATHANS.
(Fronr Our Own Correspondent) Winter is now upon us. There is about four inches of snow on the ground and the frost is wry severe. The Scandinavian dam" lias a coating of eight inches of ice, and curling is the order of the day. Scluicing claims are closed down for the winter and all work is practically at a standstill, Two rinks of Cambrian curlers journeyed to St. Bathans and wore successful in defeating the home team, but on Thursday last St. Bathans returned the match, and secured a win. From early morn until late at night the curling stones can be heard biding on the ice, and the familiar cries of “Swoop her up ’ or “You for a curler” may be heard echoing from the hilltops, The local hockey girls have had a successful run so far, winning all theiv matches with the exception of one which was drawn.
A wedding of local interest was celebrated in Dunedin last "week, when Miss Maggie Hanrahan, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs P. Hanrahan, was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Mr John Wilcox (late of Arrowtown). One and all join in extending hearty ..i; o u„ualtions and best wishes to the young couple, At a recent meeting of the St. Bathans Domain Board Mr Wm. Kenny was recommended to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr Campbell,
