VINCENT COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary monthly meeting hold on Saturday last was attended by CrsJas. Ritchie (chair) D. S. Middleton, S. T- Spain, j- Kane, J.R. Webb, C- Weaver, J. McKnight and A. Scoular. Correspondence was read and dealt with as under—

Messrs R.K. Sadd and John Haig w i otc protecting against the leasing of the gravel reserve at Lander to Mr John Wilson. It was pointed out by the chairman that the Council mul been given the right by Mr Wilson to lake gravel from any part of ids property; and therefore the gravel reserve (on which there was no gravel) was given in exchange. The district engineer and Mr -las Horn wrote in grants for Hawea Lake tracks. Mr Horn was of the opinion that these grants would be paid out of Consolidated fundJ. Cardne wrote asking assistance in having a railway crossing granted at Galloway—as it was consicleredthat it wy.s not suitable, to the solders in general the request was refused-

IK Tbo road inspectors report was received. It was decided that the lorry go to the Lindis Riding after finishing at Ida Valley. Instructions wore given for Morans road , Matakauui to bo repaired before the winter.

Cr Spain asked that portion of the £3OO grant Alexandra to Gallovny bo expended on the road.—Agreed to Cr Weaver asked that the engineer Lo procure prices and performance of a Lessman loader. Idie treasurer's statement showed a debit balance in the County fund account of £7-1-. The county ranger reported that since last meeting 06 head of stock had been impounded oil' the County roads. On the motion of Cr Webb it was ilttided that the motor regulations restricting taespeed of motor vehicles throughout the county bo strictly enforced. Accounts amounting to 6 IbSAGIO, including quarters contributions to the Hospital Board of were passed for payment.
