EXPLORATION IN WEST AFRICA.

Tin; urea test mission of exploration wliirli has left France for over a century is about to sot out on a scientific survey of French colonies in West Africa. It is being organised by the .Museum of Natural History. and is amply endowed with luuds subscribed bv friends of science, to which the Stale has added' a generous contribution. The expedition will be led by Dr Millet Horsin and his wile, who have previously undertaken several important missions for the museum in the tropics. The chief object ol the present enterprise is to study the fauna, flora, and geology ol the great districts about which very little is known except ol a general (diameter and such main features as rivers and mountain.
