.Mr H. M. boll, owner of the I’ine'vood .Jersey herd. has had rather a bad nm of luck during the last fortnight (states the Taranak; Herald). His well-known gold medal cow, Sylvia of 0.K.. gave birth to a dead heifer calf a few days ago. Prior to this Mr Hell had refused several offers of over 100 guineas for this, cow's calf. Since that he has lost another well-known cow. Pnlchra's Queen, winch he bought at Mr Hooper’s sale a few months ago for lot) guineas, the cause of death being blood poisoning, and the same day he lost a valuable hull calf a month old, which was sold to an Auckland buyer for I,‘K) guineas, delivery at four months uld; a heavy loss for -a young breeder
