SPORTING.

The programme for the annual meeting of the Central Trotting Club on New Years Day is in the hands of the printers and will be distributed to-morrow. It comprises 7 races:— District Trot (saddle) l| miles *25; Cromwell Hc,p (harness) unhobblsd trotters only, of £"2O 2 miles; Otago Central Hc,p (saddle) of £so 2 miles; Teviot hc,p (harness) of 2 miles; Alexandra Hc,p (saddle) of £2O for unhobbled trotters 1* miles; Maniototo Hc.p (harness) of L2O. l\ miles; Publican Hc'p (saddle) of L2O, one mile Nominations close on Wednesday 13th December, j Handicaps on Tuesday 19th, and Acceptances on Wednesday 27th. A meeting of the Club was held at Alexandra on Thursday bight, Mr A- Anderson in the Chair. There were also present Messrs C Mcintosh, W- Sutherland, M. Purton, S. Stevens, J. Patterson, W. Noble, H- Stevens, W. Maynard, S- Cameron, AButler, B. Parsons and J. Sanders. Correspondence mostly of a formal nature was read and dealt with. The president intimated that the day had been applied for, and that everything was in order- There was a credit balance of L.23, and all that was wanted was for members to enfuse a bit of energy into the business. It was decided to get the programmes and members books out at once.

The Trotting Cup was won by Agathos, with Onyx second and Vilo 3. Trix Pointer won the Free-for-all with Onyx second.

—Hawea Races —

The annual meeting of the Hawea Racing Club was held in fine weather on Saturday when a good day's sport was provided. The club's prettily situated track was in fine order. Results of the racing— District Hack of 15 sovs. 5 furlongs Kawatiri 1, Tainui 2, Niger 3. Also started Clothide, Bluegum, Ledger, Blacktrump and Bobbie. Won easily, Time imin Bsecs.

Flying Hc'p of ao sovs 6f— Red Shot 951, Nope 11.0 2nd, Once Mqre 11.0 j. Lady Superior 12.0, Paddy's Hope ii.o, The Boss 10.10, Highburn 10.10, Geordie Hill 9.7, and Minnie 9.0 also ran. Time 1.20.
