According to an American correspondent trousers for women are "coming into their own" in Chicago. The woman motorist defends the wearing of trousers thus:—You cannot I*' hopping in and out of a car with comfort whilst wearing a lot of awkward skirts. The motoring trousers are convenient, and when a cape is buttoned over them in stepping out to- do shopping no one knows that the skirts are wanting. And the housewife tells of bow many things can be more easily accomplished when movement is unhampered by the skirt—from making beds to sweeping around and fussing about a oar. The demand is for knickers for walking, breeches for riding, trousers for motoring, and overalls for housework.
