MAHENO NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The football season was brought to a close on Saturday, when a friendly game was played between Alaheno and Kanroo Hill. ' the former winning by I I points to if. In the evening a smoke concert was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Alaheno. when between 00 and ~0 members and supporters of thie Malum i Club attended, Air Ales Lindsay presiding. The following toast list wa> honored:- “The King.” by the (chairman; “Referees’ Association." by Mr I). Watson, responded to by Mr John Lindsay; “Returned Soldiers’ Association," by Mr AA’m. Dawson, responded to by Messrs W. Neill and Geo. Thiirlow: “Kanroo Hill Footballers." by Mr Pat Dougherty, responded to InMessrs duo. Pringle and A. Gawne : "Maheno Footballers." by Mr Jno. Pringle, responded to by Messrs H. A. Muld'rew (captain) and R. Richardson (vioe-captain) ; “Kindred Sports," InMr Geo. Cox. responded to by Air Lex Clark (tennis). Geo. Cbckten (angling), and J. Reid (Athletic Club); “The Chairman." by Mr H. A. Muldrcw. At an interval in the proceedings Mr .). Reid (vice-president) presented Mr K. Prebhle. an ex-member of the Club, on behalf of the members, with a ease of Loewe pipes. In making the presentation. Mr Reid referred to the good, work put in by their guest, also to bis popularity both amongst players and the football public alike. In asking ins acceptance of the gift he assured him that it. carried with it the members' best wishes for his future welfare both on the football field and in the greater game of life. Messrs Alex. Lindsay and H. A. Muldrcw also spoke in complimentary terms of their ex-elnb mate, and wished him every success m the future. Mr Prebhle s health was toasted with musical honors, followed by hearty cheers. The recipient made suitable response, thanking the speakers for their kind remarks and the members of the Club for the handsome present. Songs were contributed during the evening Gy Messrs R. Byers. H. Rawson. (ieo. Thnrlow. F. Rawson. A’. Macdonald. A. Alnldrew, A. Gawne. and H. A. Muldrcw. and Mr R. Neill gave a recitation. The gathering was in every way a highly enjoyable one. and was a fitting finish to what bad proved to be a highly successful football season.
