At the Royal Show in England much interest was centred in the milk and butter competitions. Dairy Shorthorn men were glad to lind one of their breed taking the championship in the chief class, comprising die big types. the honor falling to fair Rosamund, a t\\ leve-vear-old cow belonging to Major Yate's'herd at Banbury. .Major Yale's milk champion gave over seven gallons at the two milkings, upon which the comparisons are made, and the quality of her milk was also high, coming close to I per cent, of butter fat. Mr -I. M. Strickland's Keyiughani Dairy Maid -sth (the 1920 champion) gave more milk than the champion, her total be--72.81b, as againsi 70.51b, but she lost points on quality. The championship' for cows of itermediate weight fell to an Aryshiie of ten years old; and I his 'breed' ma.de an excellent show with twice the entries and no disqualifications. The Jersey breed again showed itself supreme as butter producers, and the little Kerries also gave evidence of remarkable milking qualities, the best of them giving close upon ."c! gallons a day (at -T-'57 per cent. butler fat), which, as far as bulk goes, beats the Channel Island animals, and even some of the prize-winning cows of the bigger bieeds. The British Krie-s----iaus had nine competitors. Messrs W. and R. Wallace's good-looking cow Inwcod Garuett was the winner. She had been in milk seventy-eight days. She gave U9lb Soz milk with 3.0-5 per cent. butter fat. and scored 50.50 points. Jerseys made a remarkably strong class of thirty-one competitors. Mr S. G. Asher'n Dainty won. and her record is a remarkable one. She had been calved l(>7 da\s. and gave 3Slb 2oz milk, with u',92 per c< ut. butter lai. Her total number of points was 77.50. 'Mi-; Evelyn's Kairlawne Hussey was second. One hundred and fifty days calved, she gave 401b Boz milk, with 4.52 per cent. butter fat, and scored 74.58 points.
