MOA CREEK.

The Spinsters Ball was held in the School on Friday, Sept. Bth. There was a very large attendance and the evening seemed to be enjoyed by all present. Dancing commenced at about 9 p. m. and continued till 4 a. m. with one or two short breaks: Supper was served at 12. 30 and was enjoyed by all. The catering was done by Browns' Ltd. Dunedin During the evening Mr H. Graves gave a short speech thanking the various residents for assistance and the Benedicts for llieir presence. Mr O'Connor contributed a song which was awarded great applause. Altogether a very enjoyable night was passed, although at the beginning of the evening the weather looked unfavourable. The clouds blew away however, and the moon shone through, giving the dancers a clear trip to their homes. Ploughing is in full swing in the district. The ground is very hard but one or two snow showers this week have improved things considerably. There are quite a number of lambs in the district now, but they are having rather a cold time at present. —Own correspondent.
