EARNSCLEUGH HALL.

During the past week a Subscription List was circulated in and around the Clyde district, and the response was very gratif ying indeed-The public are to be thanked for the generosity which they have shown in this matter, and the Earnscleugh people will long remember their assistance and courtesy. Earnscleugh has also been canvassed, and the support has been most liberal and universal. The pleasing feature is the manner in which the young generation are coming forward, and the extent of their contributions is certainly an eyeopener to some of their elders. On Friday evening a very successful dance and Social in aid of the Hall Fund, was held in the Clyde Town Hall, and was patronised by a large number of visitors. The Hall, not being too packed, allowed dancing to be a pleasure, and a splendid supper which was served by the Earnscleugh ladies added in no small manner to the general success of the evening. At the last Committee meeting Mr C. Weaver (Chairman), on behalf of the Committee, asked the Secretary, Mr C. Mcintosh, to accept the presentation of a fountain pen, as a mark of appreciation from the members for the service he has rendered since the inception of the Hall movement. The recipient replied. thanking the members for the valuable gift. In connection with the euchre .party at Mrs Poole's residence on Wednesday night, we have been asked to make it quite clear that the function is entirely a public one.
