The famous story of Lady (todiva’s ride through the market place of Coventry was declared to he (|iiite untrue liy Sir Bertram M’indle, in (lie course of a lecture iu the Physics Pudding of the University of Toronto on the customs and mode of living in the ICnglish city of Coventry during tin- Middle- Ages. The- speaker pointed out that, in the iirst place, there was no market place for her to ride through even though fully clad, and, in the second place-, the story had its beginning about lot) years after the lady’s demise. Peeping Tom made his debut as one of the characters of tlie story in the period of Charles the Second.
