A curious freak of nature has happened in an island of about a hundred acres in Puget Sound, the inlet of the Pacific Ocean on which the American port of Seattle tstands. The island is densely wooded with cedars, alders, and firs, hut quite quickly all the trees have died, and the island is deserted by its bird life, it has never been inhabited by men. Airs Helen Lee, wife of a Detroit (U.S.A.) manufacturer, sued her husband for divorce on the ground that he had become a "golf maniac," and won her case. Mrs Lee contended that her husband's neglect of herself and family, which, she said, was caused by his devotion to golf, amounted to legal cruelty. He wao playing at the moment her child was horn.
