A telegram from Cromwell this morning states that Mrs Lyons a married woman, aged about 50 years disappeared from her home last night at about n:ne o'clock. Her shoes were found near the river bank, and there is every probability that a tragedy has occurred. With a view to raising money to build a hall at Earnscleugh the following functions have been decided on — a progressive euchre party is to be held at Mrs Poole's residence in the first week in September, and a Garden Fete is to be held early in December. The committee is up against a big proposition but are optimistic, and confidently look for whole hearted i public support.
