EARNSCLEUGH HALL.

A very large and enthusiastic meeting of residents was held at Earnscleugh School on Monday Aug. 7th. Mr Chas. Weaver occupied the Chair of previous meeting. After the minutes had been confirmed the Secretary read the proposals which were brought forward- by the Provincial Committee. Considerable discussion followed on the question of size, and finally it was decided to increase the suggested size. The size decided upon wee 50ft by 30ft with a dancing space ef 40ft by 30ft. The question of site was not finally decided as at! the necessary particulars were net to hand, but will be decided upon at a later public meeting. A permanent Hall Committee of twelve was appointed consisting of the following:— Mesdames Iversen, Poole, McGinnis and Prater, and Messrs Kinnaird, Iversen, McGinnis, Edwards, Weaver, Hawley, White and Mclntosh. Messrs CWeaver and C. Mclntosh were elected Chairman and Secretary respectively. As there were 36 people present at this meeting it bespeaks for the interest in this local movement. A a Cemmittee meeting which followed, a deputation for the young people who are holding weekly quadrilles to create a Piano Fund presented a balance sheet which showed a credit balance of £l7 for that purpose. The Committee expressed great pleasure at the result obtained and offered any assistance that they may be able to give.
