A RARE OLD VOLUME.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Airs William Clung, of Ithaca, Alacfaigan, is the possessor of an exceedingly rare and almost priceless volume. It is a copv of the English New Testament, published in Rheims, by John Fogny. in 1582. and completed by the addition of the Old Testament in 1609. This volume contains the historical account of Susanna and her children, one of the Denterocanonical additions to the Book of Daniel in the ancient Greek Bible. It contains, too, the Books of The Maccabees. These two portions being removed in latter revisions of the English Bible. There also are to be found in this rare old volume many of the hymns used at that period as well as the ritual for the marriage ceremony in use at that time. The covers are bound in calfskin, fastened together with buckskin thongs. It is declared that John AVesley, founder of Alethodism, used this book a number of times when delivering his sermons during his ministry, closely following 1740. when lie formed the first Alethodist Society Hi a building called the Foundry, near Finsbury Square, London. This building continued for many years to be the headquarters of the Methodist. This volume was purchased by William Clung, an early ancestor of the Ching family, and handed down through the many generations of the family to the present clay.
