Oranges, bananas and mandarins are free of duty and members of the South Island Fruitbrokers Association consider per lb duty on Lemons gives sufficient protection to the North Island grower, and they have advised the Minister to that effect. With a possibility of securing direct service to and from the South Island a more hopeful tone prevails in the market.
