SPORTS.
Owing to heavy rain which set in early in the morning, the Clyde club was reluctantly compelled to abandon the annual sports to-day. This is very hard luck. All preparations had been made and there was every promise of a good meeting- However, the clerk of the weather ruled otherwise- A meeting "of the club was held at 9- 3° thismorning when the decision to abandon was come to- All the district clubs and towns were at once notified by telegraph. The holders of the priviliges, the Ladies of S- Michaels church, on this occasion, arc the chief sufferers, but they rose to the occasion “manfully”, and held an afternoon in the Town Hall to dispose of the tasty goods which hae been prepared- It is bad luck for all concerned. The hotels too would no doubt be losers, as they were prepared for the customary crowd.
