TO THE GROWN TENANTS OF OTAGO I beg to announce llial 1 am a Candidate for the position of Crown Tenants’ Representative on the Otago Land Board. Having travelled extensively in the high and low lands of Otago, and as a practical tanner and Crown tenant;. I cl; im to know something of your requirements, and the following are some of the reforms 1 would like to suggest : 1. More liberal terms as regards finance. 2. Direct upkeep of roads through Government properties. 3. Abolition of yearly licenses and the substitution of periods with a minimum of 14 years to enable Crown tenants to effect improvements on their holdings. 4. Judicious cutting up of high snow country 5. Assistance in re-grassing 6. Rabbit-netting at cost price. 7. Roads to precede settlement, especially in bush districts. 8. Land Board meetings to be neld periodically at the leading rural centres to enable tenants to get Into closer touch with the Board 9. Reduced Government nominees on the Board, and two members to be elected by Crown Tenants instead of one as at present, thus giving a more equitable representation,

io. Relaxation of the residential conditions on high back-block-country, especially in cases where returned soldiers are settled. As it is impossible tn make myself known personally to so many Crown Tenants (over 5,000), 1 am taking this opportunity of presenting my policy to you, Considering the number of Crown tenants there are throughout Otago their representation is quite inadequate, and this handicap can only be counteracted by application and diligence on the part of your representative. Should you honour me with your conlidence by returning me at the election on the 24th hist you may rest assured that nothing will be lacking on my part to conscientiously represent you and advance your interests. Thanking you in anticipation Yours faithfully VV, S. THOMSON. Glenfalloch, VVarepa, April j, 1919-
