TERRITORIALS IN CAMP.

(From our Special Reporter.) Matrae Camp, This Day, The special territorial camp at Matarae for Otago and Southland division of the N. Z. defence scheme was begun under favorable conditions at the beginning of the week. Since then large numbers of inen are arriving here every train, there being many specials packed full. The camp this year is being managed much better. The food is of a higher standard than at former camps. The water is being pumped from Sntton Creek about a mile away and though somewhat scarce at first is now more plentiful Drill this year is much harder on the men and they are now beginning to show beneficial results of their training. Colonel Moir has expressed satisfaction with the manner in which the Tenth Regiment have acquitted themselves since the beginning of the Camp. This regiment, which includes the Central Otago men, have also annexed the Robin Cup for

shooting. General Godley visited the Camp on Friday, and after casting a critical eye over the general mamvuvres, expressed satisfaction with the general efficiency and cleanliness ot the respective battalions. On 1 uesday and Wednesday Sir lan Hamiltan will pay a visit of inspection, and a special train will bring civilians from Dunedin and intermediate stations. The report circulated dy the daily paper in regard to ti c fall of snow having occurred is entirely unfounded, the nearest snow being on die Rock and Pillar Ranges. There have been large numbers ol accidents and the Ambulance Corps have been kept busy. Yesterday the combined bands of the different regiments gave a sacred concert, and the Church parade was probably the largest ever held in the Dominion.
