WIVES FOR SEDGWICK BOYS.
SCARCITY OF GIRLS. Wellington, July 7. Some of the lads who were brought to New Zealand by Mr T. E. Sedgwick under his scheme of boy emigration are demanding wives, now they have settled down on New Zealand farms, and look forward to making homes of their own. “ I would like to get married soon,” writes one of them to Mr Sedgwick, from the North Auckland district. “ The sooner a fellow gets married the better it is for him here. Girls are mighty scarce here, and I am afraid I shall have to come Home for one.” Another lad writes disconsolately that “ the nearest girl is three miles away.” Mr <Sedgwick says that Britain can find the girls if New Zealand provides the homes. —— isa
