CROMWELL

(From our own correspondent.)

The river is falling steadily. The Alpine Consols is being warped through the rip, that the late rise in the river stopped her proceeding through it. On the Clutha Shine 1 continues to win three figure returns, and there is every indication that these will continue for some time. There was a good improvement in the return from No 2. The Rising Sun had some broken time Igst week, and for the first time for a good few months her return vas bgjow 40 ounces. There is a good depth of loam on’the point she is dredging away which is a serious drawback as the loam will not leave the buckets properly. As soon as the river settles the dredge will be put into her old cut.

The return of 12 ounces from the Punt dredge was for three days dredging only. Neither of the Elects are doing any |oed ytb.
