SUING A BEAUTY DOCTOR
Apropos of Xcw York's beauty : doctors, an'action for £12,000 lias been brought by a Xeiv York lady, who alleges that when she went for treatment at a beauty-making institute she got disfiguring sears. " Dimples as pretty as those nature distributes, eyebrows perfectly arched, shell-like ears, a patrician nose, and full red lips," were a few of the facial charms she sought at a dermatological institute. But she was sadly disappointed. The operators undertook to
"restore the youthful contour to her face," to make a dimple on the chin, to raise the drooping eyelids, to draw back the skin and make it smooth on the forehead, to redden her lips, and straighten and point her nose. Instead of all this, she was made to look plainer than ever. The operators, she says, made incisions in her scalp and cuts in the side of the head near the chin. The eyelids and upper lips were cut, and the nose and the lobes of' the car. As a result of the treatment, she says she had nervous prostration, and the eyes-that were to appear big ana bright were swelled and shut for a time. Where the cwts were made, she says, are raw scars, wherefore she prays for £12,000 damages against the institute.
