August 10, 1889. To the Chairman and Members Was to Lands Board, Dunedin. Gbntlbmbn,— We. the undersigned miners and roslbenta of Bald Hill t lut aud neighborhood, beg to call your attention to the Vincent County Council’s action against Kemp and Party’s application for four acres on the gravel hill, Twelve Mile Range, for mining purposes. We are of opinion the Council are taklng(under plausible objections) a gross advantage of their position and power to obstruct an important mining .enterprise. Even admitting! the Council must nave gravel from this particular hill, we are of an opinion that from one to two acres in any corner, excepting ths north-east one, would be sufficient for all possible wants of the Council for gravelling purposes.
