CLYDE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

Tha annual meeting of the Clyde School Committee wee'held at the Schoolhouse, en Monday evening last, Mr J. Biekaon in the chair. There was a fair attendance «f householders, and tha following report of the Retiring Committee wee raid imd adopted;— Gxntuhsk,—On behalf of the Clyde Schodl Committee wq beg to submit the following annual reportDuring the year 1883 twelve ordinary and twp special meetings have beat held. The fouovrfng work* hate been carried oat durihg the year—The school grounds have, been levelled, an old raee filled <n. and a new water race Out. A number of ornamental trees and ahrnbs have been, planted, 'the majority of which appear |to be doing well. The school tank has been taken down and thoroughly washed, ont and whitewashed. The following, furniture baa been obtained froai the Boaid for the School:—Two desks, two forms, two tables, and one stationery, press, all Of which arrived in good order and' found: to ibc ; very suitable and servioable for the school building.

The following works are in course of completionA new wooden gate is being erected at the mditi entrance to the school grounds ; a turns tyle is being erected at the bask of the'school on the track to the cricket ground-r... The Committee have applied to the Board for sufficient funds to carry out the the following - works :—Two additional windows, one in each schoolroom ; repairs and additions .to the Master’s residence, pointing and. painting tha school building. No reply has as yet been received about windows and additions to Master’s residence; but the - hoard info-m the Committee that tenders for pointing and painting at,an early date will be called for. A stove has been procured for tho master’s residence, and the account has been passed for payment by the Board, but the amount has not yet been received. ’ The schobl has made good progress under the ■management of Mr and Mrs Stevens. Two examinations have been held daring the year, the first by Mr Inspector Petrie on March v Bt)i and 9th, with the following ''result ;' Passes attainable, 367 ; passes attained,' 267 /percentage, 73. The second examination was conducted by Mr Inspector Taylor,,with the following result Passes Attainable, 442 /passesattained, 362; percentage, 82. Financial Report fob Year 1883. Receipts. • £ 8. d.
