CRICKET.
The return match between the boys of Cromwell and Clyde came oil' on the Clyde ground yesterday and was., as to have expected, considering the disparity in the sizes and ages of the relative teams, resulted in a one innings an I any number of runs to spare victory for the Cromwclliana. The day was beautifully tine, and the boys appeared to enjoy themselves, We append the scores. In the afternoon the nvn teams with some of their juvenile friemlc sat donni to tea in the Committee-room of idle Public Library, the l!ev, Mr Ash taking the head of the table, and Misses Wilson, M T’herson, Cox and M ‘Connoehie atten ling. Tea being over, the Hev. Mr Ash presented the si ver cup (the gift of Mr T Webb) to Master G. Goodger, as the highest aggregate scorer in the two matches. MrT. Webb laid the tea on his wry best style the tables being well supplied and very tastefully decorated with flowers. In the evening a dance took place in the Town Hall.(thus terminating a very enjoyable day for the youngsters. We cannot close these remaiks without .according a word of piaise to*Mr Webb, who not alone gave the Cup but at no light expense provided on the occasion of both games here and at Cromwell, the creature comforts, leaving out of the question the labor and trouble lie took to make the youngsters comfortable and happy, and both games so successful.
