MOLLISON, DUTHIE & CO.’s ESTABLISHMENT.
Although the Princes streat port! nof the r ity of unedin is going a-head rapidly in the matter of buildings, George street is following closely in the Wike of its more fashionable sister in street architecture. The handsome buildings recently erected at the White Horse Hotel cc.r cr are certainly ornamental additions to that part of the town. The establishment of Messrs Mollison, Duthie & Co. is situated in the budding referred to, and a few days ago we were privileged to make an inspection of the interior. The ground floor, which is entered upon from i«eoige street, Is divided into the principal millinery and ladies’ drapery department, and the tailoring and outfitting departm nt for customers of the rougher sex. Those shops are lighted by large plate-glass windows, which, by-the-hy, were very handsomely dressed on the occasion of our visit. The show Room is situa ed on the first floor, and this is certainly one of finest, if not the fin st, apartment of the kind in the ( itj. It is fitted up with appropriate furnishing, and containing several large mirrors. The fitting-on and and waiting rooms are attached to the Show Room. The carpet room and tailors’ department are also on this floor. The top floor contains the work-rooms, which arc comfortably arranged, and appear to bo admirably suited for the purpose to which they are devoted. The storerooms are situated beneath the shops, and here the bales and package* aro opened up. Floor cloths and materials of a similar character arc also stored in this portion of the building. Altogether, the establishment of Messrs Mollison, Duthie & Co. ia one oT the m '*t complete drapery depots in the City. Mr ■ ’Ren waa the contractor, and Messrs Ewing and Grade were the archil cts.—Adrt.
