ALEXANDRA SPRING RACES.

The racing season was opened on Friday last with this meeting, and from the numof horses competing, and the other signs observable to the most casual observer, a more than successful season for the other Clubs in the District may fairly be looked for. The 17th was ushered in with most glorious weather, giving a high zest for outdoor amusement, and right well did all enter into the sports provided. The number of people on the course, though not equal to what has gathered in former seasons on tha Alexandra Course, was fully up to expectations, and combined a good sprinkling from down the river and Clyde, though the absence of many familiar faces from other places was particularly noticeable The racing, particulars as appended below, was good, and the unanimous verdict was that the best horse won each event. The arrangements connected with the racing gave universal satisfaction to both owners and riders, not a question being raised throughout the meet. Mr Samson acted as judge, and Mr M'Ginnis as starter. Mr Tohill had charge of the refreshment department, and in the dispensing of stimulating beverages was kept busy throughout the da}-. | The inference is, therefore, his duty was fulfilled satisfactorily.
