CLYDE SCHOOL.

V A meeting of the Committee of thp / ve, was held on the 30th ult., at the Hotel. Present, Messrs M'Connochie, \yta, Hastie, Kittelty, Ziele, and Christopher (Secretary). The minutes of the last meeting wt;re cor and correspondence read. A letter was read from Mr G. Brodie, M.P.C. promising to support a vote for School Buildings. A Committee consisting of Messrs Hastie. Ziele, M'Connochie, and Ryan, were elected to choose a site for a Master's Residence, from the Educational Reserves. Accounts amounting to L 36 2s were passed for payment. The meeting, after the usual vote to the chair, was adjourned till Tuesday next the 4th December. The adjourned meeting was held accordingly. A special meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday, the sth inst., for the purpose of receiving tenders for renting the Victoria Hotel, and Stables, and for considering alterations to front of same. There was present the Mayor, and Councillors 'Hazlett, Cope, Goodwin, Cambridge, andM'Conuochie. The Mayor read a tender from John Cox, offering L 7 for the use of the stables till the Ist January next. The tender was accepted on condition to be approved by the Council. The Works Committee submitted their report recommending improvements to Hotel and 'Council Chambers. The report was adopted and power given $o the Committee to carry out the works. Proposed by Councillor M'Connochie—"That Mr Hazlett's account purchase money L2lO of Victoria Hotel be paid, Mr Hazlett undertaking to sign_transfer." , . , Seconded by Mr Cambridge and carried. The special business of the meeting having closed, the Council resolved to investigate the .papers and books of the Council—the latter not having been posted yp. Proposed by Councillor Goodwin, seconded by Councillor M'Connochie—" That the Mayor and Councillors present make an inspection of the Books and papers of the Council." Carried. Proposed by Councillor M'Connochie —" That in consequence of Mr William Lamont Bailey having neglected the performance of his duties as Town-Clerk, he be forthwith discharged in accordance with the Otago Municipal Corporation's Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1865, rand that.the Mayor be instructed to appoint an Acting Town-Clerk."
