•Bc-ißiith tlie rule of men entirely iv»i, tl i-kn is MuiiiriiiK than tlie BWOKu!"

We are requested by the collector to the Punstan Hospital to acknowledge the following donations :• —Mr. S. Isaacs, M.P.C.. £5 55.; Mr. B. L. Farjeon, £2 25.; Mr. S. Hutchinson, £2 2s. The Secretary of the Dunstan Schoo' Committee begs to acknowledge the receipt of subscriptions from Mr S. Isaacs, M.P.C., £2 2s; Glassford, Bros-, Matakanui Station £ 3. The " Provincial Government Gazette " of the 11th hist, contains a proclamation by his Honor the Superintendent proclaiming Clyde a municipality. Th< municipality is divided into three ward; East, West and South Wards. Immediately after Divine Service on Sunday evening last the members of the Church of England held a meeting fo; the purpose of electing a new Committer : or the current year. The selection fc'' upon the following gentlemen :—Messrs H. W. Robinson (President), Christophers (Treasurer), Marshall, (Secretary) Bate, Barlow, Edwards, Hazlett, and Williams. A meeting of the subscribers to the Dunstan District Hospital was held on Mondayevening last at the Union Hotel, for the purpose of electing a treasurer vice Stephenson, resigned. Mr. James Pazlet' occupied occupied the chair- Mr. Joseph Hume was unanimously elected to fill th* vacant office. „__ s ' " A meeting of the Clyde School Com"mltteeT was''held at the !?choolhouse. Clyde, on the evening of Thursday last. There were present Messrs. Edwards Ryan, Zicle, Uastie, Kettlety, and Christophers. Mr Zielc occupied the chair. After the reading of an unimportant letter from Mr. Hislop, Secretary to the Educational Board, the Secretary drew the attention of the Committee to the damage done to the building by the late gales. Some discussion ensued on the subject, and it was resolved that the necessary repairs should be made. A subcommittee was appointed to look after the matter. The usual vote to the chairman concluded the proceedings. M'Dougall's mail coach from Queenstown met with an accident while passing Rocky Point, four miles from Clyde, about 9 p.m. on Thursday evening. The light from the lamps reflected upon the rocks which here line the sides of the l-oael caused one of the horses to shie and swerve, thereby bringing one of the wheels in contact with a large piece of rock, and upsetting the coach. The whole of the seven passengers were more or less injured, the most severely hurt being a female, but fortunately no bones were broken. The driver, who was not much hurt, fortunately clung to the reins, and the coach (which was not much damaged) having been righted, the whole party proceeded on their journey. The portion of the road where the accielent occurred is not only very dangerous, but is so exceedingly narrow that passengers travelling have scarcely any alternative, in case of accident, between being dashed to pieces on the rocks or drowned in the Mo yneux. The improvements required would entai" but a trifling outlay, and should be made at once ; otherwise, in all probabi'ity, the Government wi 1 be held responsible for an accielent of a far more serious natuae. The President of the Clyde Improvement Committee has received the following communication from the Provincial Treasurer: —" Sir, —I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of 3'ourlettor on the subject of the vote of .£IOO for the main street of Clyde, and to inform you that the Warden has been instructed to take charge of the expenditure if possible in accordance with the wishes of the inhabitants, but not for foot-paths. I am. &C." It will be seen by advertisement in another column that tenelers are called for effecting the necessary repairs to the main street at Clyde.
