(from our own correspondent.) Second Day, Wednesday, Dec. 27. The weather was beautifullyfinethroughout the whole of the day. The attendance on the course exceeded that of yesterday. J Front's grand stand was well patronized, the sittings being crowded by well-dressed I members of both sexes. The booths did a j J roaring trade, and were well supplied with with the good things of this life. The i grand stand proved itself equal to the occcasion. and no mishap whatever occurred, j although the building was put to a severe test. Dcnstan Handicap of 40 Sovs. | Mr. Gliissford's b. g. The wrestling matches were well contested- Messrs Evans, Dagg, Dobson, Clemens and James showed much prowess of arm and muscle. I must say the sports went off as sports should go off, merrily and without disturbance, and the publicans seem verywell satisfied with the amount of patronage they received. Mr Prout, of the Cornwall Arms, proved himself a very active man ' by winning several prizes in running, ' jumping, &c, besides private matches ' made after. 1 Mr Kinross gave a greased pig which - caused great amusement to see the - crowd running after it. Sailor Jack t, managed to retain his hold, and consequently kept the pig for his reward. It was valued at .£4 10s On Saturday sports were carried on in '■ the township comprising running walking e and jumping matches. s ——■■■»
