A serious railway accident occurred on, July 13, near Werribee station, West Australia. A train from Perth, witbv loaded coal trucks, was ascending an incline between Werribee and Wooroloo, when a set of couplings broke; releasing: 10 trucks. They started downhill, gaining impetus as they- swept along, and dashed through Baker Hill station,, which fortunately was, clear. Threepermanent way men on-a trolly saw the runaway, and jumped off, and. attempted to remove the trolly, but: the trucks crashed into it-, killing one man named Coles. The collision derailed* the trucks, which tore up the line for a considerable distance. \ The Northamr stationmaster sent out a relief train. The damage was so great that a deviation of :he line was required to maintain; the traffic while repairs were being effected. The trucks were smashed up, and the place Jooked like a coal heap; mixed with splinters of wood. The telegraph lines on the Perth side were carried away. The man who was killed had just resumed work after the stride..
