FURTHER CAPTURES.
Colonial Casualties. Execution of Rebels. United Presn Association. By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. (Received July 26, 11 p.m.) London, July 26. Major-General Scobell on Sunday captured 10 Boers. Sergeant-Major McGillivray (South Australian) was killed at Vankollensfontein. Privates Walter Miller and William Rutherford, Seventh New Zealand Contingent, were slightly wounded at Lindique, on the Vaal iliver, southwest of Johannesburg. Two rebels at Kenhardt and two at Middleburg have been executed, thirteen at Dordrecht sentenced to penal servitude for life, and two to five and ten years' respectively. In the House of Commons Mr Brodrick, Minister for War, stated that in oniy one instance were the burghers compelled to attend an execution. The cirenmstances were exceptional. Doubtless this was intended to have a deterrent effect.
