HASTINGS.
[OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
The August meeting of the Hastings Borough Council will be of more than ordinary interest on account of the reports to be considered. The matter with the Pukahu River Board will be of importance. That body have spent £500 at Roy's Hill under the impression, rightly or wrgngly, that the Hastings Borough Council would find about £170 of that amount. Tlis is a disputed point which will have to be settled at a future meeting of the Council. The site for the abattoirs is another urgent matter, and the question of, a water supply is the most important of all. It will thus be seen that the Council have their hands full.
I am informed by a milk supplier to the Jervoiston creamery that the directors of the Heretaunga Dairy Company have met at Hastings and decided that with the present quantity of milk received at Jervoiaton they cannot increase the price, but will be willing to do so on the supply being increased.
