Dr Paton has interviewed Mr Barton and voiced his fears with reference to France's intention to send a large number of convicts to the New Hebrides. Mr Barton reiterated the assurance that a watchful eye was being kept on all matters pertaining to tbe South Seas, and quietened Dr Paton's fears with regard to the importation of convwts.
