The Belfast Meat Company.

Public Abattoirs.

[per press association.] Christchukch. Last night. The report, to be presented at the nineteenth annual meeting of the Canterbury (Belfast) Frozen Meat Company, shows that after writing £5000 off the works for wear and tear and deprecation, the net amount at the credit of the profit and loss account is £4773, of which £2250 will he distributed in June as an interim dividend of 4 per cent. The directors now recommend the payment of a further dividend of 4 per cent, making 8 per cent for the year, and leaving £273 to carry forward. The stock slaughtered at the company's works during the year tot-ille3 662,441, a decrease of 41,391 as compared with the previous year. The sheep this yeir numbered 146,700 less than last year, and the lambs show an increase of 102,565 and cattle of 2424. The year has been exceptional in the company's hi -tory, an almost total failure of supplies of stock for export after July necessitating the closing of the Fairfield walks, and resulting in an average of less than half a full day's work at Belfast.
