Te Anau left Wellington at 4.20 p.m. yesterday, and arrived at 11 o'clock this morning, She leaves the breakwater at 8 p.m. for Giebcrne and Auckland. The Wairoa bar having improved, the "- c s. Tangaroa left there at 8 o'clock this morning, and was due here shortly after n °The e.s. Kahu left last night for Gisborne with a load of railway iron. The.s.s. Fanny is loading railway iron ex Tomoana to-day, and leaves this evening for Gisborne. The S.S. and A.. Co.'s s.s. Tokomaru leaves this evening for Wellington. Huddart, Parker, and Co.'s s.s. fclm-i gamite is due early on Thursday from northern ports and Sydney, leaving at 2 p m. on that day for the south, i The Union Co.'s s.s. Mararoa leaves here at 8 p.m. on Friday for northern ports and Sydney. i The Janet Nicoll is expected to leave Timaru to-day, direct for Napier, and is due here on Thursday afternoon. She lands 250 ram?, and leaves the same day for Auckland direct. _ TheN.Z. Shipping Co.'s s.s. Rakaia leaves this afternoon for Timaru. The lighters are busy to-day loading cargo ex s.s. Tomoana on the Spit wharf. An exchange says that after passing Cape Leeuwin on her passage from London to Australia and New Zealand, the Tyser steamer Hawke's Bay fell in with a violent gale, with tremendous cross seas, which lasted twelve hours. Captain Child promptly started the use of nil bags, with remarkable success. From Las Palmas to HDbson'a Bay, a distance of 10,200 miles, the engines ran continuously, the whole voyage occupyin» 47 days 4 hours, and an average speed of 10.5 knots per hour was maintained. ~..1.1. A Dunedin Press telegram states that the barque Selkirkshire, on arrival off the Heads for orders, was sent on to Napier, and the Criffel to limaru. A remarkable performance has been put up by these two vessels. They left Monte v Video on October sth, and arrived off the J Dunedin Heads within an hour of each other. They are both under charter to the N.Z. Shipping Company. The new mail steamer Sierra is timed to leave Pan Francisco to-morrow for Honolulu, Samoa, and Auckland, and is expected to reach the last named port about the 29th inst., and will proceed on to Sydney shortly after arrival.
