APPLICATIONS are invited from SteainshipOwneis, stating subsidy that would be required for a Two (2) Years' Service between New Zealand, West Australia, and South Africa. The Steamers would require to be of not less than about 4000 tons register, and to have suitable Refrigerating Accommodation for tbe conveyance of Frozen Meat and Dairy Produce. It is also desirable that Passenger Accommodation should be provided, and applicants will be required to state what Passenger Accommodation would be available. The Steamers, to leave New Zealand about once every Six (6) Weeks. Steamers calling at not less than Three (3), nor more than Six (6) New Zealand Ports, such Ports to be named in Conditions of Contract. From the Final Port the Steamers would proceed to Fremantle, West Aus-;_-liß,at.d thence to Durban, East Lonaon, Port Elizabeth and Capetown, It is necessary that the Draught of Steamers when loaded should be stated, as it is desirable that it should be such as would enable them to enter South African (3) Ports, and proceed to the usual wharves. In computing the subsidy required it would be a condition that the rates of freight upon all cargo should not exceed those ruling between the Coleny and London by the Ordinary Steamship Lines. The lowest or any offer will not necessarily be accepted. Applications, addressed to the Secretary of Industries and Commerce, Wellington, will be received up to the thirtieth (30th) January Prox.
